No chronicle is known to exist that tells of the founding
of the major kingdoms of the West. Legend places the Time
Of The Founding, when the old gods still walked the
earth and mighty heroes conquered the lands, several millenia
before the birth of Messiah. Cambrian scholars agree that
their realm is at least two-thousand years old, but no real
proof exists to this claim.
1: Alleged birth of the prophet
Messiah in Sijaal.
50: Death of the prophet Messiah
in the southern Badlands. Starting in Sijaal the prophet
Messiah begins preaching a monotheistic religion. Scholars
all over the world soon remark upon the similarities of
Messiah's religion to the Albish belief in Eâ, the Universal
Flame. His religion gathers many followers, but it is only
after Messiah's death at the hands of a tribe of Khurrn
(whom he wanted to convert), that it begins to spread explosively.
50-600: The Messianic Faith
spreads like a bushfire around the Sea of Ardor. Followers
of the Old Religions in Cambria are worried about the explosive
growth of the new faith. Soon a proper church hierachy develops,
while the faith gains even more followers.
480: Sijaalian uprising: several
independence groups in Sijaal usurp the throne and declare
the realm independent. The Cambrian response is quick and
draconic; the uprising is over within two decades, but the
the independence groups are not destroyed thoroughly, nor
is the wish for independence.
590: The Cambrian king dies
without heir, the realm is in turmoil.
601: After bloody wars between
the five high families of Cambria, House Gwyren gains the
upper hand; with Theordil I. a messianic lord ascends to
the throne of Cambria. The Messianic Faith becomes state-religion,
all other religions are suppressed.
until 900: The Old Religions
have almost vanished in Cambria.
604: Founding of the first
Warrior Orders in Cambria.
620: Gharyak incursions throughout
eastern Cambria; the Primus of the Messianic Church calls
for a "crusade against the abominations of the earth".
621: Hirun Crusade begins;
several Warrior Orders strike deep into western Hirun and
end the Gharyak incursions.
639: The Cambrian Warrior Orders
have pacified western Hirun. They build the outpost Uril
and consolidate their hold.
649: Merchants in the Nethiahn
cities form loose unions; the first Guilds are created.
650: Uril is destroyed by an
overwhelming Gharyak force. The orders retaliate in force,
beginning a thorough campaign of extinction against every
single Gharyak and Khurrn found in the lands east of Cambria.
700: Jirlon V. of House Narabor
ascends to the Cambrian throne.
716: The Nethiahn guilds become
involved in the civil intrigues of the Nethiahn city-states;
each guild tries to dominate the other guilds.
718: The Gharyak Purge ends:
western Hirun is free from any Gharyak threat. The Orders
rebuild Uril and fortify western Hirun. Jirlon V. grants
them the newly conquered territory as a loan; these territories
become known as the Corwynn Marches.
719: The civil strife in Nethiah
develops into open warfare. Mercenary companies hired by
different factions battle each other in the streets of Nethiahn
cities.
721: Mereda burns. Jirlon V.
sees this as an opportunity to annex the city.
722: Siege of Mereda; within
a year the city falls to the Cambiran conquerors. Seeing
that they are vulnerable, the guilds suspend their quarrels
to deal with the invader from the north.
723: Fighter's Guild - known
as the Steelers - is founded in Druuz out of the
various mercenary outfits that have participated in Nethiahn
conflict. They march on Mereda. Battle of Parien; a small
Cambrian army is defeated by the Steelers. They continue
to march on Mereda.
724: Siege of Mereda begins.
Jirlon V. orders forces from the Corwynn Marches to march
south and support Mereda.
725: The Steelers cannot
break the defenses of Mereda. The armies of the Wolf of
Corwynn and the Steelers clash. The somwhat unorganized
armies of the Fighter's Guild must yield to the battle-hardened
veterans from the north.
726: The Nethiahn Guilds enlist
the support of the mysterious Navigators.
727-735: The Wolf of Corwynn
consolidates his hold over Mereda and the surrounding provinces
.
739: King Jirlon V. dies under
mysterious circumstances. There are rumors of treason within
the Landsraat. Vorel III. of House Firith becomes
the new king of Cambria.
740: Treason within the Syndicate
of Bahryn; all anti-Cambrian guild syndics are murdered;
open warfare between two factions in the street; the new
city council calls for Cambrian support to restore order.
741: The Wolf of Corwynn sends
the Fifth Army to Bahryn. They take the city with only minor
casualties. Battle of Pelaka; the Steelers must yield to
the armies of the Wolf of Corwynn and retreat to Druuz.
742: Siege of Druuz begins.
The Cambrian army tries to block the harbor, but fails to
destroy most convoys headed for Druuz, probably due to Navigator
interference. Guild-loyal citizens of Bahryn form resistance
groups and begin a guerrila war against the Cambrian usurpers.
745: Vorel III. orders the
southern Cambrian colonies, Jharkor and Sijaal, to support
the Cambrian armies in the Nethiahn conflict.
746: Armies from Sijaal and
Jharkor arrive at Druuz, but turn on the Cambrian army,
breaking the siege. Shocked, the survivors of the Cambrian
army retreat to Mereda.
747: Vorel III. sends all available
men (including the Border Armies) to Mereda to support the
Cambrian army. Cambria is practically without defense.
750: Numbed by the constant
threat within the city, the Fifth Army retreats from Bahryn
when faced with a Jharkorian fleet advancing on the harbor.
752: Burning of the Corwynn
Marches. Gharayaks gather in the highlands and sweep down
into the Marches, slaughtering every living Cambrian in
their path. Uril falls and burns; the wife and the children
of the Wolf of Corwynn are slaughtered. The victorious Gharyaks
continue west, nothing stands in their way before they reach
the Cambrian heartlands. Vorel III. withdraws his armies
from the Great Guildwar and sends his troups north to defend
Camlæn against the Gharyak horde.
753: Battle of Camlæn. The
Cambrian armies defeat the Gharyak horde on the Crimson
Fields near Camlæn in the province Darkmere.
754: Warned by the recent Gharyak
incursion, king Vorel III. decides to build a great protective
wall that runs the entire length of the eastern Cambrian
border, shielding it from Hirun and Kharia.
755: Pact of Bahryn. King Vorel
III. recognizes the independence of the Nethiahn city-states
and grants independence to both Sijaal and Jharkor.
755-761: The Great Guildwar
continues. Both the bashran of Jharkor and the selduk of
Sijaal act as mediators.
762: Accord of Mereda. The
Guilds form a Council on the Isle of Ardor.
803: The Court City of Ardor
is complete. The Guild Council begins to take the name Court
and the Guilds are commnly known as the Court of Ardor.
816: Renegades from the Great
Guildwar have established small pirate realms in the Badlands.
839: Azundargal, a dwarven
settlement in the depths of the Badlands mountains falls
to the Khurrn and Oorsch.
841: Construction of the Shieldwall
is completed.
930: Proper founding of the
Loremaster Council on the isle of Skelos. The organization
has been around as a loose circle of powerful sorcerors
and scholars for several centuries. Their aims are to find
out about the past and the origins of the Kingdoms of the
West.
987-993: Riftwar in Jharkor.
The Raizhul, prophet to the nomads of the Rift, sends his
followers to Marhakhan and conquers the city. They can hold
the city for six years before they must retreat into the
Rift. Raids from the Rift continue till today.
1001: First Serpent cult emerges
in Sijaal.
1009: Tahmanth unites the pirates
of the western coast. Founding of the Alliance of Barjhan
in Torjiah.
from 1010: The pirates of Barjhan
begin terrorizing the western coasts of the Gaelnesse south
of the Sea of Ardor.
1011: Religious unrest in Sijaal.
Inspired by the success of the Messianic Faith, each cult
wants to become the leading religion in Sijaal.
1013: The Selduk of Sijaal
is assassinated. The assassin is never found.

winter drives starving and freezing Gharyak from Kharia
into Hirun. When the cold winds even sweep into Hirun the
desperate horde marches west on Cambria. Throughout the
winter the horde crashes against the Shieldwall, but it
is repelled each time.

abates; all cults have lost members, only the Messianic
Faith has gained adherents.

grown to a huge city. It's main population are cuthroats,
fortune-seekers, assassins and thieves, who are plundering
the ruins of the dwarvish settlement.
1190-1303: Religious Wars in
Sijaal. Heralded by the appearance of the prophet Ezenachi,
a wave of religious hostility sweeps through all cults.
The end of this period leaves several minor cults destroyed
or hidden. The Messianic Faith has lost in importance; many
of its adherents were hunted down and killed during the
wars. The few remaining Messianics have retreated into the
northern portion of the kingdom, where they dwell under
the protection of the Cambrian Warrior Order of the Holy
Sword. Only the Red (belief in the the goddesses of live,
love and dance) and the Black Temple (belief in the the
god of fate and mercy and the goddess of death and rebirth)
have gained from the conflict; they are far more important
than they were before. Ezenachi's cult (Cult of Trahjian;
in the wake of the wars associated with madness and destruction)
and several other minor cults seems to be destroyed.
1333: Aged 15,
Theordil IV. of House Gwyren ascends to the throne of Cambria.
After centuries, a Gwyren king wears the iron crown of Cambria
again.
1354: An expedition
leaving from Beargh for Maelvil is captured by Gharyak.
A few survivors can escape that Gharyak; they tell unbelievalbe
tales of a mighty Gharyak fortress, hidden in the wildreness
of southern Kharia.

of the hamlet Wyrdrith in northern Falinor vanishes without
a trace. Rangers of the Cambrian army suspect Albish sorcery.

close to the Albish border. The Cambrian Army doubles its
border patrols and creates a special force of Rangers, the
Pathfinders.
1376: Cambrian and Albish border
troops clash in the north-western provice Falinor. This
marks the beginning of the Albish-Cambrian Border War.
1377-81: Both sides wage a
guerilla war against the opposition. Quick deep strikes
against the enemy are commonplace.

have recruited wild tribes of Gharyak to support their own
armies in the struggle.

Throughout the year Cambria tries to take the strategically
important Bluevale, but is thwarted each time. Finally the

tribes of half-Gharyak, Albish forces take the Gælen Path
and attack the Cambrian fortress Tobar's Landing. The Albish
