Common knowledge in the Kingdoms of the West is that the
best sword fighters come from Jharkor. However, the Jharkorian
Swordslinger is not necessarily a Jharkorian by birth, but
he has studied the Jharkorian way of fighting.
This style is aimed at utmost control over the weapons
and Jharkorian Masters regard the fighter's weapon as not
only an extension of his body, but of his mind and will
as well. Swordslingers are trained to aim at the most vulnerable
parts of the body and they have an astonishing knowledge
about the anatomy of the humanoid body.
The Jharkorian Way looks artistic, and the Swordslinger
moves like a dancer with fluid motions and abrupt stops
and pauses before again exploding into deadly elegance.
If a student has been accepted by the Masters, he spends
years in a monastery, focussed completely on mastering his
body and mind. When they finally leave the monastery again
they have become the most feared fighters in the known world:
calm, graceful and ultimately deadly.

modifier
Weapon and Armor
Proficiency: The Swordslinger is proficient with
simple and martial weapons as well as with the Double-bladed
sword. Jharkorian Swordslingers are proficient with light
armor only as any armor heavier than a chain shirt would
hinder them too much in their movement to execute their
style properly. They do not use any shields and thus they
are not proficient with them.

The Special Abilities of a Jharkorian Swordslinger are:
Advanced Critical Strikes: When
a character deals a Critical Strike, add (10 + class level)
to his d% roll to determine the exact critical.
Reduced Critical Hits: When
a character suffers a Critical Hit, reduce the severity
by one category. Thus an "E" Critical becomes
a "D" Critical, or an "A" becomes no
critical.
Enhanced Critical Strikes: When
a character deals a Critical Strike, increase the severity
by one category. Thus an "A" Critical becomes
a "B", or an "E" becomes an "E"
and another "A" Critical.
Critical Tolerance: If the character
suffers a Critical Hit, make a Fortitude Save; if the Save
is successful, the character takes no Critical. If the Save
is not successful, reduce the severity by two categories.

| Note: The special abilities
on modifying criticals imply that Rolemaster Critical Strike
Tables are used. For information on how to convert RM Criticals
into D&D3E terms see the information on RM Criticals in
the Arcane Law section. |
