This section is an attempt at a conversion of the Rolemaster 2nd Edition Spell Law into the Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edtion d20 system. Ever since the 3rd edition of D&D had been released I wanted to abolish the magic system and replace it with Rolemaster's Spell Law, which not only due to the sheer amount of spells, but also due to style and possiblity, is far superior to the usual D&D spells.

Furthermore, the world of Lamaar was created for Rolemaster and as such it had to offer the variety of the Spell Law magics. But I didn't want to tackle the task of integrating Spell Law, for this would invariably involve rewriting Rolemaster Critical and Spell Attack tables.

However, some weeks ago, Adrian R. Brown posted his ideas of a Spell Law conversion to D&D3E on his homepage. Interested, I took a look at his set of rules and I instantly liked them. While his rules integrate the RM Spell Lists into the set of usual D&D magic, I wanted something more radical. I began to modify his system, made up some conversion rules that enable the integration of RM Critical Tables (an essential part of RM) into D&D3E and finally rewrote (and simplified) the Spell Attack tables.

All the material in this section has only been playtested in my head (the actual playtests will follow in the next weeks and months), so I expect the material to change a bit in the future. The material is also vailable as a .pdf file for download.

Please use the links underneth the title bar to navigate through this section.

Note: You need access to the original RM Spell Law (1st or 2nd edition) as well as nearly every Rolemaster Companion in order to full use this conversion. I don't know the Rolemaster Standard System (RMSS) but the spell lists should be compatible. If you do not own any Rolemaster products, hurry to your gamestore and buy anything you can get hold of - it was an amazing system ... sadly it is no more.
